That was until I decided to have one made to suit myself and my horse in shape and fit. As I am only hacking for pleasure these days I wanted one with less skirt and slightly shorter in the back to suit the horse (also easier for carrying the ½ mile to the yard if I have to). As the skirts are blocked and shaped to fit the tree there are no bumps or hollows on the underside and lined with shearling and not kodel, thus eliminating the need for a thick pad, as a blanket or serape underneath will do the job, so no over-cinching and no roll when you move in the saddle. My horse most certainly appreciates the ease of cinching and the fact that the saddle does not shift when mounting or dismounting, so now, riding is as it says, a pleasure.
