About
Celtic Western Saddles
|
 |
It
all started when my wife said - "I'VE A GREAT WESTERN SADDLE
BUT WHO CAN REPAIR IT"
 |
We have
been involved with western saddles and western riding since the
early seventies when Linda (my wife) wanted a more relaxed and
interesting style of riding. Having bought our first western
saddle she set about trying to learn as much as possible about
the art of western riding and was surprised to find the amount
of interest in the U.K |
We attended shows, clinics, took livery at a training school in the
south - to whom we are eternally grateful. Over the years we have
had many western saddles - all being imported from the U.S.A or
countries further afield - some have stood the test of time whilst
some have fallen by the wayside due to poor materials, questionable
workmanship or just prematurely worn out. We enquired across the
country to find someone who could repair western saddles (torn/worn
skirt linings, stitching or rigging broken, cracked tree's etc) but
to our dismay we could find nobody providing such a service and
sending saddles back to America was horrendously expensive.
So the seeds were sown and I became fascinated with the world of
western saddlery, the artwork, how leather could be moulded and
crafted into intricate patterns along with being the most functional
of materials. After having studied the subject for many years and
learnt from some of Americas master Saddlemakers I started to repair
my wifes saddles and those of fellow riders she met in western
riding circles
 |
We returned
to our roots in Wales and opened our leather workshop on the
isle of Anglesey and continued to expand our knowledge of the
world of leather workmanship - my wife retained her fascination
with western riding and still came home with the same message -
nobody seems to cater for western saddlery in this country |
This prompted the decision to offer the solutions to our own
problems to the western riding fraternity in the U.K who now find
themselves in the same position we had experienced over the years -
saddles gathering dust in the tack room - I'VE A GREAT WESTERN
SADDLE BUT NO ONE CAN REPAIR IT
Our aim is to provide traditional quality workmanship in making,
repairing, restoring or customizing western saddles - our quality
ensures reliable, robust products which ensure the riders safety but
provides value for money.
By starting in a small way it has given us great satisfaction to
able to solve the problems of quite a number of customers and we now
feel that we are ready to offer our services to a wider customer
base - we trust we can be the answer to your problem and that this
web site gives you an insight into the services we can provide |
